Yanacachi
A small paradise with an ancient history
Yanacachi is considered the gateway to the South Yungas province. Thanks to its geographical position, it is a crossing point between the high mountain ecosystems and the Amazonian landscape; historically it connected the indigenous populations of the plateau and those of the subtropical valley.
The area of Yanacachi preserves remains of ancient pre-Columbian settlements, vestiges of the colonial past and of its more recent mining history. The ancient Takesi Trail, famous among trekking enthusiasts, crosses the region.
A mild climate and rugged geography, marked by picturesque hills and steep slopes covered with lush vegetation, transform the landscapes surrounding the town of Yanacachi into a small paradise of green colours. The town itself, with its colonial buildings and sleepy rural atmosphere, is an ideal destination for visitors looking for a peaceful and relaxing place to stay.
