The Incammino project
The Boliviandando platform is part of the Incammino project (AID 11.477/ICEI/BOL), funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) and implemented by a consortium of Italian (ICEI as consortium leader, Progettoomondo, CoopCulture, AITR and University of Milan-Bicocca) and Bolivian (OEPAIC Network) organisations, with the mission to support local communities and members of the community solidarity tourism enterprises (Emprendimientos Turisticos Solidarios Comunitarios, ETSC) constituting the Red TUSOCO network, and in close partnership with the Qhapaq Ñan project implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Bolivia.
The "Incammino Project – Economic development of rural communities in the area of influence of the INCA Way, improvement and sustainable use of natural and cultural heritage and application of new technologies in the community tourism sector" aims to strengthen the capacities of Red TUSOCO and ETSCs, with a focus on:
- The quality of tourism services offered by ETCS.
- The promotion and marketing of tourism offers from ETCS and the Bolivian rural areas.
- The collaboration with public institutions in developing policies to support Bolivian community tourism.
Considering the difficulties generated in the global tourism sector by the pandemic, the project has carried out a series of activities to support the reactivation of the sector in Bolivia. These activities are based on the definition of codes of conduct aimed at the protection of communities in the context of Covid-19 and the strengthening of the supply of tourist services, based on products adapted to suit the national and international markets, strengthening its promotion through different tools, including the platform for the promotion of Boliviandando community solidarity tourism.
This was achieved thanks to the close coordination with the Qhapaq Ñan Project - Local Capacity Building for the Implementation of Community Heritage Tourism by integrating the Qhapaq Ñan Phase II executed by the UNDP.
