Potosí
Land of rich mines, colonial architecture and unspoiled nature
The historic city of Potosí was the main centre for silver mining during the centuries of the Viceroyalty; today it is the capital of the department and its historic centre is one of the gems of colonial architecture in Bolivia.
Many of the country's most visited attractions are concentrated in the district of Potosí. The wild scenery surrounding the Eduardo Avaroa National Park, with its high mountains, colourful lagoons and deserts is the quintessential Andean landscape; the majestic beauty of the immense Salar de Uyuni, a destination for travellers from around the world, and the warm welcome of the locals leave indelible memories.
