San Pablo de Lípez
An on-the-road adventure through the sensational landscapes of southern Bolivia
San Pablo de Lípez is a vast municipality and a sampler of all the most spectacular natural elements of the Andes: imposing volcanoes with a perfect conical shape, colourful lagoons populated by flamingos, endless horizons that merge with the sky, ghostly memories of a mining past...
At least 40% of the environment of this immense municipality is protected as part of the Eduardo Avaroa Andean National Wildlife Reserve, one of the most visited nature reserves in the country. Here, the infinite range of reddish, brown, auburn, ochre and golden hues of the landscape create an amazing contrast with the instense blue of the sky, which seems particularly close.
