The archaeological museum displays the finds and funerary goods from the archaeological site of Taramaya.
The Museum preserves the Chullpa Tani, one of the most important and famous archaeological finds in recent years.
Located in the municipality of Pata Patani, on Lake Titicaca, the Pata Patani Archaeological Museum exhibits many artifacts found in the ruins of Taramaya.
These include one of the most impressive relics of the ancient Inca and Tiwanaku cultures, perhaps the most famous item of the entire collection: the Chullpa Tani. Also known as the Momia Tani (Tani Mummy), it owes its name to the place where it was found. It is the mummy of a high-ranking woman, which is evinced from the peculiar artificial deformation of the skull, according to a typical practice of Inca society.
Another important exhibit, which also clearly reflects its high social standing, is the mummy of a child of about three years. Like the Tani mummy, it too has a deformed skull and is wrapped in clothing with fine decorations.
