A dreamlike landscape in the Andean mountains, where the steam from the hot springs seemingly touches the sky.
The area of the Polques hot springs is the ideal place to relax surrounded by the incomparable beauty of the Andean landscape.
The presence of hot springs in the middle of frozen deserts is the result of geothermal and volcanic activity in the region. In the surroundings of the Polques volcano you can easily come across salt lagoons, geysers and natural pools.
The Polques hot springs are located at an altitude of more than 4,000 metres. The temperature here reaches 10 degrees below zero and a maximum of 20 degrees in the hottest season. Taking a dip in the hot springs (the average water temperature is 29 degrees) while the outside temperature is freezing is a pleasant and unmissable experience. But be careful, when you emerge from the water dry and cover yourself as fast as you can unless you want to catch your death.
Many visitors arrive early in the morning – just to relax or attracted by the healing properties of the thermal waters, a sovereign remedy for those suffering from arthritis or rheumatism – or at sunset, to rest after a day’s adventure in the highlands and enjoy the starry night skies.
There are various types of accommodation around the site that offer a pleasant stay: a good reason to make these peaceful hot springs the base for your excursions. Contact us to receive our advice and organise your visit to the Polques hot springs.
