A unique community hostel near the Salar de Uyuni, set among the scent of flowers and the colours of the orchards.
The Jukil Community Lodge is a picturesque salt and stone accommodation promoting responsible tourism in the heart of Santiago de Agencha.
The Jukil Community Logde is a space created by the Santiago de Agencha community to accommodate travelers who wish to stay in an ecological refuge.
The lodge is made up of several buildings: the smaller ones house the rooms (double, twin and triple rooms) while the larger one, in middle of the complex, houses the dining room. The peculiarity of this hostel is given by the construction materials – salt, mud, stone and straw, all materials sourced locally and environmentally friendly – and the shape of the buildings, with their sloping roof, resembling an oven, to better preserve the heat.
The decoration of the rooms is also unique: the beds, chairs, armchairs, in the bedrooms and the dining room, are made entirely from blocks of salt. The white of the furniture contrasts with the knick-knacks, cushions and blankets in the typical vibrant colours, which brighten up the interiors. The Jukil Community Lodge combines environmentally sustainable materials with quality craftsmanship.
Guests at the Jukil Community Lodge can also sample the local food in a variety of dishes, including roast llama with quinoa graneada, charque soup (dried llama meat) and a nutritious drink: quinoa soda. The dishes are carefully prepared by the women of the community with the traditional ingredients of Andean cuisine.
Write to us and book your stay at the Jukil Community Lodge with its furnishings made of salt: we are waiting for you to recharge your batteries in contact with nature.
