Tasty flavours and simple dishes are part of the ancient food heritage of this region.
Savour the specialities of Santiago de Agencha. Just a stone's throw away from the Salar de Uyuni you can discover one of the must-see destinations of a trip to Bolivia.
The community of Santiago de Agencha is known and appreciated for its production of quinoa, the "golden grain" as it’s known, a particularly nutritious grain that is first toasted and then cooked so that it remains soft and delicious.
Quinoa often accompanies a llama fillet, a perfect nutritious combination you don’t want to miss on your trip to Bolivia.
Depending on the season, you can find here and taste the wild fruits typical of the region, which include the famous pasakana – the fruit that grows on the top of the local giant cacti – and the sweet plums grown in the small orchards of the town.
The Jukil Community Lodge is the perfect place to enjoy the delicious Andean food and typical dishes from the villages surrounding the immense Salar de Uyuni.
